BH Cosmetics “Hangin’ in Hawaii” Eyeshadow Palette Review + Makeup Tutorial

Hey everyone! I am very excited for today’s blog post because I am doing a review of one of my favorite beauty products! Last year, I discovered the travel series collection by BH Cosmetics, and I fell in love! I first bought the “Love in London” palette, and I did a review and tutorial with this last year so click here to check that out! Since then, I have been dreaming of purchasing the other palettes in this collection. Within this collection, there are a variety of eyeshadow and highlight palettes relating to different travel destinations! Some of the names of these pallets are: “Glowing in Greece”, “Illuminating in Ireland”, and “Blushing in Bali”. I’m hoping to purchase the “Beautiful in Barcelona” palette next!

For today’s review and tutorial, I will be sharing the “Hangin’ in Hawaii” eyeshadow palette. I really wanted this one in particular because I absolutely love the colors! There is a perfect mixture of shimmer shades and matte shades, and a variety of browns, golds, pinks, and oranges. I also feel that these colors look really great on brown eyes which I have. Since I adore the “Love in London” palette, I knew that this one wouldn’t disappoint, but I still wanted to take the time to review it for those of you looking to buy it!

Review:

I am such a big fan of the travel series collection and this palette is definitely a favorite of mine! There is such a wide variety of shades and you can create so many different makeup looks with this one palette! If you are like me and you tend to go for more neutral makeup looks, then I would definitely recommend purchasing this palette out of all the others in the collection; I believe that you will get more use out of this one. I really like that there are so many shades of brown and gold because these are the colors I go for most often, but then you have the fun pops of color within the palette as well (in case you decide to go bold). There are 16 stunning shades! A few of my favorites are: Pineapple, Sandy, Lei, Mahalo, and Honolulu. I love that the names all relate to Hawaii (each palette names the colors after certain things within that destination, which I think is so fun)!

All of the shades in this palette are extremely pigmented and so beautiful on the eyes! I was very impressed with the color payoff, even with the shimmer shades (because often times these are much less pigmented). It is good to keep in mind that the shimmer shades are very sparkly. While I happen to love this look, I am aware that not everyone does. Luckily, there are plenty of matte shades to try! None of the colors are very chalky or difficult to apply. When applying the shadows, you really don’t need to pack it on; a little goes a long way! You can always add more because these shadows are very buildable. Many reviews I have read said that there can be a lot of fallout with these shadows, but I really didn’t notice that. Either way, I always recommend doing your eye makeup before your face makeup (that way if you make a mistake or you do have some fallout, you won’t be ruining your fresh face makeup). One important characteristic of eyeshadows for me is blendability. I enjoy creating makeup looks using multiple shades, and I never like my eye makeup to look harsh. The shadows are very easy to blend out, so you’ll never have to worry about harsh lines or difficulty with blending! If you grab a fluffy crease brush you should be good to go!

Overall I highly recommend purchasing this palette! It is perfect for an everyday natural look or a look for a night out, and it screams summer to me! Also, this product is extremely affordable, and the fact that you’re getting 16 different shades in this one palette is amazing! You can purchase this palette here!

Makeup tutorial:

Lately, I haven’t been doing any crazy makeup. I used to go full glam almost every time I did my makeup but for a little over a year now, I’ve really loved the look of natural, glowy makeup. Well, today I decided to do something a bit different and get out of my comfort zone. I normally do not wear very much color on my eyes, but I wanted to have some fun with this look!

  •  To start, I gently applied an eye primer all over my lids. This will not only help to keep the shadows on all day, but it will also make the colors pop. I always use my ring ringer and tap rather than rub (keep in mind the skin around the eyes is very sensitive, so you should never be rough with it).
  • Then I took my “Hangin’ in Hawaii” palette by BH Cosmetics, and used my first shade, “Waikiki”. I used a shadow brush and decided to apply this shade all over my lids. It looks like a subtle gold shade in the palette, but on the eyes it is more of a bright, almost yellow gold.
  • Next, I took the shade “Lei” which is a gorgeous coral/orange color, and with a fluffy crease brush, I applied this into my crease, bringing it up a bit closer to my brow bone for a smokey effect. I noticed that this color was overpowering the gold, so I decided to add more of the color “Lei” to my inner and outer lids. I took “Waikiki” and only applied it right at the center of my lids for a pop of shimmer. This made the transition of colors look a lot less harsh, but you could still see each color I was using.
  • I wanted to add another pop of color, so I chose to go with the shade “Paradise”, which is a gorgeous bright pink. I took a smaller and more defined crease brush and applied this right into my crease. I chose to keep this color in my crease rather than blending it up to my brow bone like I did with the previous shade. Then I blended all of the colors together to create a smooth and smokey look.
  • I then took a liner brush and applied that same bright pink shade on the outer corner of my lower lash line, as well as a shade “Luau” on the inner part of my lower lash line.
  • The last step for eyeshadow was to apply a highlight shade to my brow bones and inner corners of my eyes. I decided to go with the shade “Hula” because it is a light shimmer shade, perfect for this exact step.
  • After, I curled my lashes and went in with my favorite mascara at the moment, and that is the L’Oréal Telescopic mascara. I always go for black because I love how it adds some drama to my eyes. This mascara does a great job of lengthening and separating my lashes! Then I took my Long-Lasting Eye Pencil by Essence in “Black Fever”, and used this to line my waterline and tightline, bringing even more drama to the eyes.
  • Once I completed my eye makeup I moved on to my face. I used my Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base and gently massaged this into my skin. Then I took my favorite foundation which is the Maybelline Fit Me, and I used a beauty blender to dab this into my skin. I always like to use extra foundation under my eyes since I don’t always use concealer.  I used my Banana Setting Powder by Bellapierre Cosmetics to set my foundation.
  • Next I took my bronzer by the brand Estate in the shade “Coco” and using an angled contour brush, I applied a little bit of this right along my cheekbones and hairline, up to my forehead to give my face a bit more definition and color.
  • To brighten up my complexion I used a blush by Lottie London in the shade “Serene”. I love this blush because it isn’t too bright or bold but it adds a beautiful natural glow to my face. Is the perfect light pink shade for this time of year. After, I used a highlighter by Kaleido Cosmetics in the shade “Goddess”, and applied it right above my cheekbones to give me the glow that I am always after!
  • Then I applied the “It’s the (Lip) Balm” by the brand Clearly Balanced Days. I always like to apply chapstick before applying any other lip product because it helps other products go on smoothly and it keeps my lips hydrated underneath. I decided to go with my current favorite lipgloss by NYX cosmetics in the shade “Bit of Honey”. This is such a perfect nude gloss, and it can go so well with any makeup look! Since the eye makeup is so busy, I decided to keep the rest of my makeup (face and lips) a bit more natural.
  • The last step was to simply brush my eyebrows (but if you like to apply brow gel or fill them in, you definitely can).

When I sat down to do my makeup, I wasn’t exactly sure where I was going with it. I had a plan but I wasn’t sure that it would turn out great. In the end, I was very pleased with the look that I created, and I fell in love with the fun and bright eye makeup! I’ve missed playing around with makeup and trying out new looks, so I really wanted to share this one with you today because it’s a bit different for me! It took me a while to get used to seeing bright orange shades on my eyes, but I think it looked pretty with my eye color!

I hope you enjoyed reading today’s post and that it gave you some beauty inspo! Be sure to check out the “Hangin’ in Hawaii” palette by BH cosmetics (the brand has made some changes to the packaging)! Or, you can take a look at the other items in the travel series collection! Thank you so much for reading!

Sunset Eyes – Fall Makeup Tutorial

Hey everyone! Today I wanted to share a fall makeup tutorial with you all. The focus of this look will be the eyes. I recently received a beautiful eyeshadow quad from Illuminati Cosmetics, and I fell in love with it! I feel that the orange and pink shades can really make brown eyes pop, but of course, no matter what your eye color is, you can still rock this look! If you have been keeping up with my beauty blogs, you would know that I tend to choose neutral colors (golds, browns, taupes, champagnes etc.) when it comes to eyeshadows. Well, it’s safe to say that I’ve been getting out of my comfort zone a bit this year, and I think that translates through this makeup look! In order to create this look, all you would really need to have is the eyeshadow palette!

Let’s get into the makeup tutorial!

  • I always prefer to do my eye makeup before my face makeup, so I like to start by applying an eye primer. I always use my ring finger to gently tap the primer around my lids (remember how delicate the skin around your eyes is).
  • The second step in this look is eyeshadow! I took my new Illuminati Cosmetics Quad Palette in Enlightened. While the colors seemed a bit intimidating to me at first, I decided to try them out anyway. The palette has two matte shades and two shimmer shades. I would say that the shimmer shades are not incredibly pigmented, but they can add a nice sparkle to any eye look.
    • I began by taking the shimmery gold color and I applied this all over my lids.
    • I then used the matte orange/rust shade and blended this into my crease. With the matte shades, less is more, so start by applying a tiny bit and building it up if you need/want to. It is important to blend your shadows in any makeup look, but especially if you are using bold or dark colors, so don’t skip this step. It gets rid of harsh lines and it creates a beautiful smokey effect on the eyes.
    • Then, I took the pink shimmer shade and used this to line my lower lashline.
    • For the last step, I used a white/champagne color and applied this to the inner corners of my eyes and my brow bones. I always do this because it highlights these areas and makes me look more awake.
  • Next up, I decided to use the Big Ego mascara by Tarte in black. This mascara is great for any makeup look, though it is not the absolute best in my opinion. I would say it is the perfect everyday mascara, but it is buildable. I applied a couple coats to my top and bottom lashes.
  • Then, I used my go-to black liner by the brand Essence, and lined my waterline and tightline. I love doing this with pretty much any makeup look because it adds a bit more drama.
  • After, I began my face makeup. I took one of my favorite primers, the Ciaté London Watermelon Burst Hydrating Primer, and applied this all over my face. I love this primer because it does exactly what it’s supposed to. It is extremely hydrating, and it smells great! It is a nice base for my foundation.
  • I then took my go-to foundation, the Maybelline Fit Me Foundation, and I used a beauty blender to apply it. I really love the way that a beauty blender can evenly apply the product all over my skin, and the end result looks very natural. I always skip concealer, and I go back in with foundation over any dark spots I may have. I used the Banana Setting Powder by the brand Bellápierre Cosmetics and lightly sweeped this across my face. I prefer looking more matte than dewy, but if you would like a bit more shine, you can use less powder (or you can use a tinted moisturizer rather than foundation).
  • I don’t always use bronzer, but I felt that it would look beautiful with this makeup look. I took my bronzer by Estate Cosmetics in the color Coco, and used an angled brush to apply this right underneath my cheekbones and on my forehead. Once again, it is important to blend, and to find a shade that works well for your skin tone. This will prevent the bronzer from looking muddy.
  • I used a beautiful blush by the brand Doucce in the shade Daydream. I decided to go for a lighter pink (almost nude) because the eyes are already so busy. I applied this to the apples of my cheeks and blended it out.
  • Then, I used a highlighter by Kaleido Cosmetics in the shade Goddess and applied this to my cheekbones and the tip of my nose to add a golden glow; perfectly complimenting my sunset eye makeup.
  • Next, I moved onto the lips. I always start off with a chapstick to make sure my lip color will apply smoothly. I like to have either a dramatic eye look or a dramatic lip, but never both at the same time. For this reason, I went with a matte, nude lip color. I feel that a nude lip completed the look beautifully.
  • To finish this makeup look, I simply brushed my brows up and over, and the makeup was complete!

I hope you enjoyed this blog post! I highly recommend trying out this stunning eyeshadow quad, and it can be purchased here! Let me know what you think of this look in a comment below. Thank you so much for reading!

Go-To Glam Makeup Tutorial

Hey everyone! Today I wanted to share a makeup tutorial with you all. This has been my go-to glam look for a little while now! When creating this look, I decided to use all of my absolute favorite beauty products at the moment. You may have seen me talk about a few of these products before, but I had to include them because they have become favorites of mine!

This makeup look is somehow natural yet smokey at the same time. It can really be worn for any occasion, and at any time of year! Like most of my makeup tutorials, this one is pretty simple to do/follow along with!

For more photos, check out my Instagram @sacchere14
  • As always, I like to start with my eyes. I prefer to do my eyes before my face so that if there is any fallout or if I make any mistakes, I won’t ruin the entire look. If I am being honest, I don’t have a favorite eye primer, so I just like to use whatever I could find. I gently dab this onto and around my eyelids. (Remember to be very gentle around the eyes as it is such a sensitive area.)
  • Then, I move on to eyeshadow. For this look, I am using the gorgeous duo palette by Jules Smith Beauty in “Wise Guy and Gold Mine.” I am such a big fan of shimmer shades and neutral colors, so this duo is perfect for me. The colors are very pigmented, so a little goes a long way. I took a shadow brush and applied the lighter color all over my lids. I then took a crease brush and a very small amount of the darker color, and lightly applied this into my crease. I used a fluffy blending brush to blend the colors, creating a bit of a smokey look.
  • For mascara, I used my all-time favorite, which is the Thrive Liquid Lash Extensions Mascara. I rave about this product all the time because it is truly the BEST mascara I have ever tried. (If you would like to read more about it, check out my review here.) I simply curled my lashes and applied a couple coats to my top and bottom lashes, leaving them long and voluminous.
  • The next step was eyeliner. I used the Long-Lasting Eye Pencil by the brand Essence. I lined my waterline and tightline with black to add a bit more drama to the look. I use liners like this every time I do a full face of makeup.
  • Now we move on to the face! I recently tried out a new face primer that I very quickly fell in love with, and that is the Watermelon Burst Hydrating Primer by Ciaté London. I love that this primer does exactly what it says it will do! It smells great and it leaves my skin feeling very refreshed. I then applied foundation. I talk about this one all the time, but I used my Maybelline Fit Me Foundation. This has been my go-to foundation for a few years now, and I still love it! I dotted this onto my face and then blended it out with a beauty blender. I used a bit of extra foundation under and around my eyes as a substitute for concealer.
  • Next, I went in with a loose powder. I applied the Bellápierre Banana Setting Powder to set my foundation and to help create a matte finish.
  • I was never the biggest fan of bronzer or contour, but I have been using a bit of bronzer in my makeup looks lately. I love the way it adds some color and glow to my skin! I used the Bronze Booster by Physicians Formula. What I love about this bronzer is that it isn’t too dark or too light for my skin tone, and it adds a subtle glow without looking muddy.
  • I absolutely love applying blush, so for this look, I took my Kaleido Cosmetics blush in the shade “Primadonna” and applied this to the apples of my cheeks. I blended in the color a bit to make it appear more natural.
  • I then used my favorite highlighter by Ofra x Madison Miller in the shade ”Moondance.” I took an angled brush and sweeped this onto my cheekbones, the tip of my nose, as well as my brow bones and the inner corners of my eyes.
  • I always like to apply chapstick before applying lipstick or gloss, but I don’t necessarily have a favorite. I used my Superstay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick by Maybelline in the shade “Lover.” I adore matte lipsticks and Maybelline is my favorite drugstore brand, so I reach for these often. I love this pink shade, and felt that it completed the look beautifully!
  • I naturally have full brows, so most of the time I will simply brush through them and let them be. I haven’t tried any brow products other than the Benefit Gimme Brow + Volumizing Brow Gel, which I will occasionally use.

This completes the makeup tutorial! Thank you so much for checking out today’s blog post. Let me know your thoughts on this tutorial and makeup look in a comment below!

Fresh Face for Spring: My Skincare + Everyday Makeup Routine

It has taken me quite a while to get a solid skincare routine down. Even now, my routine is not perfect (so don’t judge too harshly). I have found quite a few products that I have fallen in love with and I wanted to share them with you today! I am not only going to be sharing my skincare routine with you, but also a very simple and fresh makeup look for the spring time!

Since I have been staying home due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, I rarely wear makeup. I like to get glammed up once a week for fun (and for pictures). What I’ve noticed is just how clear my skin is getting! I think that it is a combination of not wearing makeup and using the right products for my skin. I have struggled with acne since I was about 12 years old, and I am 20 now. While in school or working, I like to wear a bit of makeup because I feel that I look more presentable and it gives me a bit of confidence. I also do it to cover up my blemishes. I think I’ve finally realized what part of the problem is… my skin HATES makeup. For someone who loves makeup so much, this realization has been frustrating, to say the least!

I’ve been taking much better care of my skin now. I change my pillow case frequently, I clean my makeup brushes once a week, I try not to touch my face, and I’ve been using some amazing skincare products.

My skincare routine:

If I am wearing makeup, I normally take it off once I am home for the day (this is usually earlier than when I do my full skincare routine). Anytime I see people rubbing their skin harshly to either remove or apply their makeup, a part of me is cringing! Honestly though, I used to do this too. Now I try to be super careful. After removing my makeup, I will usually cleanse my face quickly because I feel like it helps to remove whatever makeup is left on my skin. Then, if I feel like my skin needs it, I’ll apply a bit of moisturizer or hydrating cream.

Now onto my daily routine! As I mentioned, my skincare routine is not perfect, and I am still learning. This is just what I like to do!

At night, after washing my face in the shower, I like to use an acne cleanser. My favorite is the Bioré Charcoal Acne Clearing Cleanser. This does dry out my skin a bit, so it is important that I hydrate!

Next, I use my new favorite cleanser by Youth to the People. It is the Kale and Green Tea Spinach Vitamins Superfood Cleanser. I have been loving this product lately, so I wanted to share it with you! This product smells so good (the best way I can describe it is fresh), and I truly feel that it does an amazing job of deeply cleansing my skin. I highly recommend trying this product out for yourself!

The next step is serum. I got this serum trio from Artnaturals. I have spoken about this brand on my blog before, but I had never tried their skincare products! I was excited to try these out and they did NOT disappoint! This trio comes with a Vitamin C serum (reduces wrinkles, fine lines and dark circles), a Retinol Serum (age defying), and a hydrating serum (moisturizing). I wasn’t sure what to expect , and to be honest I did not have high hopes. It is safe to say that I have fallen head over heels with this trio. My blemishes are disappearing, the texture of my skin has improved, and I truly feel like my skin is glowing. And this is after only 2 weeks of using the serums! I believe that the retinol serum has helped me the most, but I enjoy using the other 2 as well. I use the retinol serum at night. I absolutely love these products, and I would recommend them to everyone!

Occasionally, I will apply face oil next (I do not do this too often though). I have been using the face oil by Go-To Skincare. Typically, after this I will apply a moisturizer. My favorite one at the moment is the Dr. Frog Water Fullcharge All In One. This moisturizer is amazing, and it has quickly become a part of my everyday routine. I gently blend this into my skin and I bring it down to my neck as well. This does not have a very strong scent, but it is subtle and it smells nice. This product makes my skin INCREDIBLY soft, and it feels refreshing and hydrating. This is another product I would recommend!

After, I will move onto my eyes. Lately, I have been using both an eye serum as well as an eye cream (sometimes I’ll use one or the other). I have pretty dark under eye circles, but because of my big eyes, I feel like I have always had them! I don’t believe that anything can necessarily get rid of under eye circles, but there are products that may lessen the appearance. I have been using the Dermadeli Nourishing Eye Serum. I don’t have much to say about this product because I have not seen a difference yet. I apply a tiny drop of this and very gently dab this under and around my eyes. Then I go in with my Murad Renewing Eye Cream and once again, gently dab this under my eyes.

In the morning, I don’t like to go too crazy. I will first wash my face with my Bioré acne cleanser. Then I use the Artnaturals Vitamin C Serum, and follow up with the Moisturizing serum!

My fresh face makeup routine:

Now, I know I said that my skin has been clearing up and I really do believe not wearing makeup has been a major help! However, I did want to share a simple, fresh makeup look today. This look is perfect for those warm spring days.

  • First, I like to prime my eyelids to keep the shadow on all day long. On days when I am doing a natural look, I will either not apply eyeshadow, or I’ll apply a very neutral color. Today, I decided to wear a single eyeshadow by Phase Zero, in the shade “Banana Beige”. This is the perfect color to brighten up the eyes without overdoing it, and it adds a bit of sparkle! I simply applied this all over my lids, and lightly blended it up into my crease.
  • Then, I curled my lashes and I took one of my absolute favorite mascaras, the Maybelline Lash Sensational Curvitude mascara in black. I applied this to my top and bottom lashes. What I love about this mascara is the fact that it makes my lashes very long, but it does not give me too much volume. It appears very natural, and I love the look of long, natural lashes.
  • Next, I used my Hydra Veil face primer by the brand Illamasqua. I applied my go-to foundation, the Maybelline Fit Me foundation, with a sponge. If you have a BB Cream or a Tinted Moisturizer, I would actually recommend this. It is much lighter than foundation, so If I had one, that is what I would use instead! I then applied my loose setting powder by YC Collection, and I sweeped this across my face.
  • I have been obsessed with cream highlighters lately, and this was my next step. I love nothing more than a blinding highlighter, and this one does the job perfectly in my opinion. I used my highlighter by the brand Flesh, in the shade “Pinky” and applied it right above my cheekbones, my brow bones, the inner corners of my eyes, and the tip of my nose.
  • I then took a blush by Kaleido Cosmetics in the shade “Primadonna” and brushed this onto the apples of my cheeks. I love this shade because it is the most beautiful pink. It is not too light or too dark, and it gives me glowing, rosy cheeks.
  • I applied some chapstick, and then took one of my favorite glosses by Vasanti Cosmetics in the shade “Super Mom”. I love doing a glossy lip when I do natural makeup looks. It also added to the glow that I was going for!
  • Lastly, I sprayed my Pixi by Petra Glow Mist to complete the look!

That is it for the fresh, glowy makeup look! It is very simple, and it literally took me 5 minutes to do!

Thank you so much for reading! If you try any of the skincare or makeup products, let me know what you think! Until next time!

Valentine’s Day Eye Makeup Tutorial

Hey everyone! I had so much fun creating this eye makeup look for Valentine’s Day, and I wanted to share it with you all! In my January Ipsy Glam Bag Ultimate, I received a new eyeshadow palette by theBalm Cosmetics, and I have been obsessed with it! This is the “What’s the Tea?® Ice Tea Eyeshadow Palette” ($36). I decided that I could create the perfect V-Day makeup look using this, and that is what I am going to be sharing with you today! This is a somewhat natural eye with a pop of pink!

When I first saw this palette, I thought that the theme was adorable. The palette as well as the colors all relate to gossip. If I am being honest, I probably would not buy this palette if I were walking through an Ulta or Sephora because I do not typically go for bold colors. I definitely prefer browns, golds, or taupes. This palette includes three matte brown shades, and six shimmer shades. Although I would not buy this for myself, the different shades of pink and blue are gorgeous. If you have read a couple of my other makeup tutorials, you may know that I am a little afraid of using bold colors in my eyeshadow looks, but I’ve been trying to get more experimental, and I have actually been having a lot of fun with it! I used to do the same eyeshadow look every single day, but thankfully that is not the case anymore (thanks to Ipsy)!

The eye makeup tutorial:

  • I started off by applying the neutral eyelid primer that comes in this palette. I gently blended this onto my eyelids. You want to ensure that your eye makeup lasts all day and night for Valentine’s Day, so primer is essential! I also feel that primer makes applying eyeshadows a bit easier because it gives the color a smooth base to stick to!
  • The first color I took was this beautiful pink color in the shade, “The 411”. I simply applied this onto my eyelids. I was immediately impressed by the color payoff with all of the shades!
  • Then, I took the light brown shade, “Oh Snap” and blended this into my crease as a transition shade using windshield wiper motions.
  • I then took the middle brown in the shade, “The Run Down” and applied this to the outer “V” of my eyes. Make sure to blend out the shadows after this step. These shadows are incredibly easy to blend (with just a little bit of fallout when applying them).
  • The last step for the eyeshadow is highlight. I took the shade “He Said, She Said” and lightly applied this to my inner corners and my brow bones. In my opinion, highlighting these areas complete an eyeshadow look beautifully. It brightens up the eyes and makes you look more awake. I love this shade because it seems to be a mix of light purple and gold, making it more unique (and stunning).
  • Next, I lined the outer half of my lower lashline with “The Run Down”, and then lined the inner half of my lower lashline with “The 411”.
  • Next, I took my L’oreal Voluminous Lash Primer, and my Maybelline Lash Sensational Curvitude mascara and applied a few coats. I love this mascara because it always does a beautiful job of lengthening and separating my lashes. If you prefer to wear false lashes, you can do this as well!
  • Lastly, I took my usual black eyeliner by Essence and lined my waterline and tightline. I do this pretty much every time I do my makeup because it adds a bit more drama to any makeup look, which I love!

Thank you so much for reading! I am so in love with this eyeshadow palette, and if you are interested, I highly recommend looking into buying it! Let me know how you’re planning on doing your Valentine’s Day makeup in a comment below!

BH Cosmetics “Love in London” Eyeshadow Palette Review + Makeup Tutorial

Hey everyone! I was recently out shopping and I was looking around Ulta for nothing in particular when I came across this eyeshadow palette. I had never tried any products from BH Cosmetics so I was excited to see if I liked it! This is the “Love in London” eyeshadow palette ($16). The brand has a collection of palettes all relating to beautiful places around the world. Some of the other palettes were called, “Beautiful in Barcelona”, “Hangin’ in Hawaii”, and “Summer in St. Tropez”. I plan on buying a couple of these other palettes because the colors are stunning (but to be honest, it was the names that sold me)!

Of all of these eye shadow palettes, I chose the “Love in London” one because I liked the colors in this palette the most! This palette is absolutely perfect for people like me. I’m not the biggest fan of color, and many of these are neutral shades that could be worn daily! The palette includes a mix of matte and shimmer shades as well. The colors are incredibly pigmented and easily blendable. When I first applied one of the shadows to my lids, I was surprised and very impressed by the pigmentation. One thing I love about this collection is that the names of the shadows relate to the destination. In this palette, some of the colors are, ”Big Ben”, “Duchess”, “Piccadilly”, and “Tea”. A couple of my favorite colors are “Prestige” and “Palace”.

When I first sat down to create this look, I had no idea what it would end up looking like. I knew I wanted to use the shade “Prestige” because I think it is my favorite color in the palette, but other than that I was just going to experiment! The look is a bit dramatic, but it could be worn for a nice dinner or a night out with the girls!

The Makeup Tutorial:

  • The first step to any makeup tutorial is eye primer. This goes all over my eyelid to ensure that the color lasts all day long.
  • Next, I took my new palette by BH Cosmetics, “Love in London”, and applied the color “Prestige” all over my lids. I then took the color “Cheers” and used this as a crease shade.
  • Then I applied the shade “Crumpet” in the outer “V” of my eyes (make sure to blend). As I mentioned, I’m not the biggest fan of color, but I do try to incorporate it in small, subtle ways. So, I took the shade “Duchess” and applied this on the outer half of my upper and lower lash line. And the last step for the eyeshadow is highlight. I used the shade “Cheeky” on my brow bones and inner corners to brighten up my eyes.
  • Next up: mascara! If you have read any of my previous makeup tutorials, you may know that Maybelline mascaras are some of my favorites (particularly the Lash Sensational mascara). For this look, I started off by applying the L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Lash Primer. I recently tried the Maybelline Lash Sensational Curvitude mascara for the first time and I fell in love with it so that is what I used on my lashes. This mascara does an amazing job at separating and lengthening my lashes. I highly recommend this combo of the lash primer and the mascara.
  • The last step for the eyes was eyeliner. I used my go-to black eyeliner by Essence and lined my waterline and tightline.
  • Next, I took my Benefit Cosmetics POREfessional Face Primer and used my clean hands to gently apply this onto my face. I used my favorite foundation, the Maybelline Fit Me foundation and blended this into my skin. I applied my Banana Setting Powder by BellaPierre Cosmetics by lightly sweeping it across my face.
  • Then, I used my Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Bronzer in “Park Ave Princess” and applied a small amount to my cheekbones and forehead. I took my new highlighter by Wet n Wild in the shade “Botanic Dream” and applied this right above my cheekbones.
  • Lastly, I applied a simple nude lip plumping gloss to my lips. I am unsure of the color, but the gloss is by the brand NYC Makeup.

For this look, I skipped my brows and blush, and I did not contour. If you would like to include these steps, go for it! I would recommend using a more neutral blush color!

If you are interested in purchasing this palette, I highly recommend it. I would also recommend looking into the other palettes from this collection if this one is not your cup of tea 😉 Thank you so much for reading! Cheers!

Holiday Glam Makeup Tutorial

Hey everyone! I am so excited to share this blog post with you today! This is going to be a holiday glam makeup tutorial and it is stunning for any event you may be attending this season! For this look, I created a smokey eye and a bold red lip; perfect for the holidays.

The Eye Makeup:

  • As always, I started off by priming my eyes. This step is crucial if you want your eye makeup to last all day and night!
  • Next up, I took my Diamond Foils Eyeshadow in the shade “Sizzle” by Kaleido Cosmetics and applied this all over my eyelids.
  • I then took the Maybelline palette, “The Nudes”, and used the top right color and applied this right into my crease. I also applied this color to my outer lids, and along the outer part of my lower lash line. Don’t worry about blending just yet, we will get there!
  • Using the same palette, I took the bottom right black shade, and lightly applied this in the outer “V” of my eyes. When using eyeshadows, especially darker colors, remember to gradually apply the shade onto your eyes and build it up from there. It is much easier to add more color than it is to take off. You don’t want to ruin your look and have to start over again!
  • Blend! You don’t want any harsh lines!
  • Next, I curled my lashes and applied my all-time favorite mascara, the Thrive Liquid Lash Extensions Mascara, coating my lashes a few times. I wanted my lashes to be dramatic and this mascara does the job perfectly. If you prefer using false lashes, go for it!
  • Then, I lined my waterline and tightline with my go-to black eyeliner by Essence.
  • And the last step for the eyes is brows. I simply brushed my brows up and over and that was it!

The face makeup:

  • First, I applied my First Aid Beauty Hello FAB Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturizer. Then I used my favorite foundation, the Maybelline Fit Me Foundation. I applied this with my clean hands, making sure to blend it in gently. I also used a bit of extra foundation as a concealer.
  • Next, I took my Banana Setting Powder by Bellapierre Cosmetics and sweeped this across my face.
  • Then I used the OFRA X Madison Moondance highlighter and applied this right above my cheekbones, the inner corners of my eyes, my brow bones, and the tip of my nose. I also used a bit of my Physicians Formula Bronzer and lightly applied this onto my cheekbones and up to my temples.
  • Lastly, I applied some chapstick and used the most gorgeous matte lipstick from the Betty Boop X Ipsy collection in the shade “Boop-Oop-A-Doop”. I used a lip brush to perfect the edges and blend out the color a bit!

For this look, I did not use contour, blush, or any brow products. If you wish to use these, you definitely can! I would recommend using a more neutral blush color since pinks or mauves would not match this look very well.

I plan on wearing this look on Christmas Eve and I cannot wait because I think that it turned out beautifully! If you love this look or plan to recreate it, leave me a comment below. Thank you so much for reading!

What’s in My November Ipsy Glam Bag + A Fall Eye Makeup Tutorial

I seriously cannot believe that November is almost over! Every month seems to fly by, but the good news is that I receive my Ipsy bags every month, so I am always looking forward to that! Today I wanted to share what was in my November glam bag and review it for you all. I also wanted to include a fall eye makeup tutorial using the eyeshadow duo that I received in my glam bag this month!

This month, Ipsy wanted its members to embrace their wild side (hence, the print on the bag). I think this month’s bag is adorable and the print is definitely on trend right now! I rated the overall bag a 4/5 stars because there was one item that I felt I did not necessarily need.

Inside the bag:

  • Gigi Gorgeous: Living Lip Balm in Natalia

This lip balm is perfect to throw in your bag as you’re leaving your house, and it smells like vanilla, which is my favorite scent! Although I love lip balms, I really did not need another one! I rated this products a 3/5 stars.

  • Pixi by Petra: Mesmerizing Mineral Duo in Mineral Bronze

I love getting eyeshadows in my glam bags, and when I saw this duo I thought the colors were beautiful and perfect for fall. I really like the brand Pixi by Petra, so I was excited to find that I had gotten this product. While the colors are beautiful, I did find it just a little bit difficult to blend them, but other than that, I love the duo! The colors are perfect for a more dramatic eye look! (This duo is also an exclusive product for Ipsy members!)  I rated this product a 4/5 stars!

  • Vasanti Cosmetics: Power Oils Lip Gloss in Super Mom

I think that when it comes to makeup, for me personally, I can never get enough lip products! I find that lip products (particularly lipsticks and liquid lipsticks) are my favorite things in the world. This lip gloss keeps my lips moisturized while adding a beautiful pop of pink. I rated this product a 4/5 stars!

  • Eva NYC: Freshen Up Dry Shampoo

I loved receiving this product because I was just recently telling a friend of mine how much I love dry shampoos. Dry shampoos can be extraordinarily helpful when you just don’t have the time to wash your hair. If I am up really late one night cramming for a test, and I didn’t exactly have the time to wash my hair the night before, I will get ready for the day and right before I walk out the door I will spray a bit of dry shampoo on my roots and rub it in. This dry shampoo works really well on my hair, and I may or may not have used it a few times already! It just keeps your hair looking fresh rather than greasy! I rated this product a 4/5 stars!

  • IT Cosmetics: Confidence in a Cream

This is the product that I chose to receive in my November glam bag. I don’t use it every night since it is only a sample size, but when I do use it I immediately feel like my skin can breathe. I just put a small amount on my fingers and gently rub it into my skin. I love using this product after washing my face at night, and it leaves my skin feeling light and clean. I also rated this product a 4/5 stars.

Eye Makeup Tutorial:

I created this eye makeup look using my Pixi by Petra eyeshadow duo from my glam bag this month, as well as a couple other products that I will mention below! This eye look is perfect for the fall and winter time, or just a night out with friends. I wasn’t planning on having the look turn out so dramatic, but I ended up really liking it!

  • I started this look off by applying an eyeshadow primer all over my lids.
  • I then took my Pixi by Petra eyeshadow duo in “Mineral Bronze” and applied the lighter brown/taupe color all over my eyelids.
  • Next, I took a single eyeshadow by IBY Beauty in the shade “Headliner” and applied this to the outer “V” of my eyes (don’t get too sloppy with this shade. Keep the color right in the outer “V”. Don’t blend it too much just yet). I also took this same color, and lined my lower lash line.
  • Then I took the darker bronze color in the Pixi eyeshadow duo, and applied this into my crease. The eyeshadow duo is VERY pigmented, so be sure that if you use it, you gradually build the color. Remember it is much easier to apply more of a color than to have to remove it.
  • BLEND. You should always blend your eyeshadows to avoid harsh lines. Blending will make the look come together beautifully, especially when using more than one color or darker eyeshadows. As I mentioned before, these shadows were just a bit difficult to blend, so I had to work on this for a little longer than usual.
  • Once the shadows were well blended, I took my OFRA Cosmetics OFRA x Madison Moondance Highlighter and applied this to my inner corners as well as my brow bones.
  • Next, I curled my lashes and took my favorite mascara, the Thrive Liquid Lash Extensions Mascara in Brynn, and coated my top and bottom lashes.
  • I then applied a small amount of my Benefit Cosmetics: Gimme Brow  + Volumizing Eyebrow Gel in 4.5. After this, I simply brushed my brows up and over.
  • Lastly, I lined my waterline and tightline with a black eyeliner by Essence.

That is the completed eye makeup tutorial! I hope you enjoyed this blog post! My next couple posts will be a bit more fall themed as well, but once December comes I plan on sharing quite a few holiday related posts. I may be posting a little more often next month as well! Thank you so much for reading!

What’s in My September Ipsy Glam Bag + A Makeup Tutorial

As some of you may know, I subscribed to Ipsy, a beauty subscription service, earlier this year and I have been obsessed! I know that Ipsy has been around for quite a few years now, but it is sort of a recent discovery for me! Today, I wanted to share what is in my September glam bag with you (I know it’s already October, but I wanted to share this anyway!  I will try to post these sooner and during the actual month that I get them)!

Before we get into the makeup tutorial, I quickly wanted to show you the bag and the products that I received! I rated this bag a 4/5 stars! The bag is adorable, and I love that there is a different theme every month!

Inside the bag:

  • Benefit Cosmetics: Gimme Brow  + Volumizing Eyebrow Gel in 4.5 – Neutral Deep Brown

Although it is a very small sample size, and I do not typically do my brows, I actually did like the product. I rated it a 3/5 stars.

  • IBOM: Lemon Verbena Clay Mask

I do not really care to receive facial masks, however I will try this one out!

Update: I actually love this product! It seems to be clearing up my skin a bit, and I plan on finding the product to purchase it myself!

  • Too Faced: Damn Girl! Mascara

I love receiving mascaras in my bags, and this one did not disappoint, however the wand is a bit big! I rated this product a 4/5 stars!

  • Ofra Cosmetics: Ofra x Madison Moondance Highlighter

I absolutely love this highlighter, and I think it may be my new favorite! I rated this product a 5/5 stars! It is such a gorgeous shade!

  • C’est Moi Beauty: Reflect Lip Gloss in Bliss

I actually prefer lipsticks over glosses, but the color is beautiful and it applied nicely! I rated this product a 4/5 stars!

And now for the makeup tutorial!

I wanted to share this look that I created using the products in my glam bag (plus a few others to complete the look)! It is a very simple eyeshadow look with a bold wing and a glossy lip.

  • I started off by priming my eyelids and then I took the single eyeshadow by Suva Beauty in the shade Coriander, and I applied it to my lids and blended it up into my crease.  You can’t really see it in the photo above, but I applied an eyeshadow by IBY Beauty to my lower lash line (the outer half) and it is in the shade Headliner, which is a medium purple shade. Then I took an eyeshadow from Nomad in the shade Champagne Reef, a yellow gold shade, and applied this to my lower lash line as well (the inner half).
  • Next, I took a liquid eyeliner by the brand Jonteblu, and created a somewhat dramatic wing. (If you have trouble creating a wing like I do at times, grab a piece of tape and line it up from the outer corner of your eye, to the end of your eyebrow, then draw and fill in your wings).
  • I curled my lashes and applied the Damn Girl! Mascara by Too Faced, and coated my top and bottom lashes. Then, I lined my waterline and tightline with a black eyeliner by Essence.
  • Next, I took a small amount of my Base Tape Primer by Tarte and applied this all over my face. I took my favorite foundation, the Fit Me Foundation by Maybelline, and used my clean hands to apply this onto my face and neck. I added a tiny bit of my foundation to my under eye area, and gently blended it out. After this, I took my Maybelline Fit Me Pressed Powder, and sweeped this over my foundation.
  • I used a small amount of my Bronze Booster by Physicians Formula in the shade Light to Medium, and applied this to the hollows of my cheeks to give my face a bit of a bronzed appearance. Then I took my new favorite highlighter by Ofra Cosmetics (it is a part of the Ofra x Madison collaboration) in the shade Moondance, and applied this to my cheekbones, nose, the inner corners of my eyes, and my brow bones.
  • I then used a little chapstick and applied my new lip gloss by C’est Moi Beauty in the shade Bliss to add some shine to my lips.
  • Lastly, I took my Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow + Volumizing Brow Gel and lightly brushed it through my brows.

I hope that you enjoyed reading this post! I always used to do the same exact makeup look EVERY DAY, but because of Ipsy and having my own blog, I am getting a bit more experimental with my makeup and I am having so much fun doing it!  I am very excited to share more makeup looks with you in the future, and if you like this look or want to try it out, leave me a comment below!
