Transitioning Your Wardrobe from Summer to Fall

While I am a little sad to see summer go, I am absolutely thrilled to start wearing fall fashion! There is something so chic and stylish when it comes to fall/winter fashion, and it often inspires my personal wardrobe as well as my blog posts. Today I wanted to share three different outfits with you all, and I’ll be taking them from summer to fall. I will share a few tips on how exactly I did this. Transitioning your style through the seasons can seem a bit tricky, especially when the weather is slow to change, however it is not as complicated as it seems.

Outfit #1:

This first look is very girly and fun. It includes my favorite color (pink) and a classic pair of denim shorts! The crop top is from New Look, and I got it on sale. I absolutely adore the ruffled look along the neckline, and the off shoulder sleeves. This top can be worn many different ways, but I decided to keep it simple for the summer look. I bought these cute denim shorts from Target and they are by the brand Universal Thread. Combining these two pieces creates a girly but casual look for summer (perfect for those hotter days). For my shoes, I went with a simple pair of black sandals. I wore these all summer long because they are THAT comfortable. They are also from Target and by the brand A New Day. I decided to pair this outfit with my gorgeous Kate Spade bag! I am so in love with it, and the little strawberries all over it are so cute! The bag completed the look perfectly.

The transition:

Now the weather may be a bit cooler, but you still want to give off a similar look. For the transition, I thought that keeping the same pink top would be a nice touch and pop of color for the outfit. For an extra layer, I threw on my gray and black windowpane blazer. I love this blazer because it is a little bit oversized, but it still looks really classy, which I love. Instead of going for the same denim shorts, I changed it up by going for my favorite pair of jeans! I love the look of light wash jeans and the rips give the outfit a bit more edge. I will always choose high-waisted jeans over low-rise, and I love straight leg jeans as well. I have such a love for ankle booties in the cooler months, so I went with a pair of pointed-toe black ankle boots. Lastly, I swapped out my Kate Spade bag for a simple black one.

Outfit #2:

For this next look, I wanted to show you how you can take a very popular summer print/style to fall! Gingham is has been trendy for the summer time for a while now, but by making subtle changes, you can seamlessly wear the same pieces in the cooler months. The main focus of this look is this adorable dress that I recently purchased at New Look. I love the fun gingham print, and the fact that it is black and white helps with the transition. I really love the buttons going down the front, as well as the cut out right above the stomach. I paired this dress with some cute black cat eye sunglasses, as well as the same black sandals from the previous summer look.

The transition:

To wear this dress in the fall, you may want to think about layering. For this look, I decided to throw on a long sleeved black mock neck top underneath the dress; this will definitely help to keep you warmer on those chilly fall evenings. I thought that I’d stick to black because you really can’t go wrong with the color! I chose to style this with a faux leather jacket to make it even more edgy. For my shoes, I changed into the same black pointed-toe boots from the previous fall look.

Outfit #3:

For the last outfit, I wanted to style this cheetah print midi skirt. I absolutely love how flowy this one is, and I thought it was the perfect piece to center this outfit around. Keep in mind that neutral colors/pieces can be your best friends in the fall and winter. You can style so many pieces in so many different ways if you stick to colors such as brown, black, taupe, gray, or white. I decided that a simple black tank top would do the trick. I then paired this outfit with some strappy brown sandals. When it’s hot out, sometimes simplicity is best!

The transition:

To take this look from summer to fall, I decided that one of my favorite coats would be perfect. I chose to throw on my gorgeous brown trench coat. I bought this while on a trip to France, and I am still so in love with it! It is lightweight and great for cool fall days. Trench coats are such a staple, and I think every girl should own one. They come in many different colors and styles, and trust me when I say they will never go out of style. They add so much class to any look! I then switched out my sandals for my black pointed-toe ankle boots yet again. What better way to complete a look in the fall than a hat?! I chose my black fedora, which is a classic and a nice way to ring in the fall season!

I hope that you found this blog post helpful and that it gave you some fall fashion inspo! I truly do love this time of year, and I am so excited to share more with you all.
